MPM Focke-Wulf Fw-189 A-1 Night Fighter - (Fw189A-1), 1/72, 72529

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

$34

This model features injection molded parts with fine recessed surface detail, high-definition cast resin parts, many photoetched details, excellent cockpit, upward firing cannon, full radar array and more. The Fw-189 made its first flight in the late 1930s and was ordered into production soon afterwards. It was built until 1944 and served well on the Eastern Front, where it was known for it's performance, maneuverability, ability to absorb damage and adaptability to many rolls.

Frog Handley Page Dart Herald Jersey Airlines, 1/72, 363P

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$225

Very rare model from the 1950s of this early British Prop-jet airliner in Jersey Airlines livery; Jersey was the first operator in the World to sue the Herald in scheduled service. Before entering passenger service, the Dart-Herald went on 6 world tours covering 250,000 miles and visited more than 60 countries. Heralds carried 56 passengers or 6.5 tons of freight at a range of 1000 miles and a cruising speed of 275 mph. The kit features separately molded rudder, ailerons and elevators, two position passenger and cargo doors, rotating propellers and wheels, boarding stairs, seated and standing pilots and stewardess. The kit even includes a cork-stopped glass container of gray or silver paint which is still good. Never started. Inventoried 100% complete with all parts, extensive decals with all stripes and instructions. Decals are the best I have seen and are 'Near Mint+', almost factory new. The instructions are 'near mint' with typical yellowing only. Postal insurance is required for this kit.

ESCI NATO Pilots And Ground Crew - 48 Figures, 1/72, 243

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc

Revell Douglas AD-6 Skyraider - AH-1 Navy Attack Aircraft - 'S' Issue, 1/40, H269-198

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Good++

$179

Very rare original "S" kit from 1959. The box states "So Realistic It Does Everything But Fly!" and that is no idle boast. It is full of action features; the wings fold, dive brakes operate, arresting hook moves, canopy slides to show full cockpit, landing gear retracts and cowling comes off to show fully detailed engine. The most interesting thing is that the landing gear retracts and extends with a very complicated gear system that is operated from a central point. Molded in the correct gloss medium gray and clear plastic. Never started. It has been inventoried complete with all parts and includes decals and instructions. Decals are in amazing 'near mint' condition with slight yellowing as the only flaw and the instructions are in the same condition also. Please note that the box is solid with 'very good' color and gloss, four perfect corners, no repairs, no price tags or tape (other than the factory sealing tape of course) but it is rated only 'good++' because it has age spotting; a series of small light brown spots on the box top and also on the left short box end.

MPM Breda Ba-88B Lince, 1/72, 72538

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Sealed Exc+

Anigrand Martin XB-48 - 6 Engine Jet Bomber, 1/72, AA2084

Resin Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$120

Very highly detailed resin kit. The parts are still in the internally sealed bags. Includes decals and instructions. With the success of the German jet bomber Ar.234 in 1944, USAAF became aware of enemy aviation advances. The war department issued a requirement for a new design of jet bomber which was powered by either the J35 or J47 engine. From this, the Martin company submitted the Model 223. It was awarded contract for two prototypes which were then designated XB-48. Other designs which entered the competition included the North American XB-45, Convair XB-46 and the Boeing XB-47. The USAAF needed urgently needed a jet-bomber, so in 1946 they chose the flight-tested B-45 as the winner. Any decision on the XB-47 and XB-48 were deferred until they had tested. The first XB-48 made its maiden flight in 1947 but engine difficulties delayed development and testing. In 1948 the XB-47 was ready for testing and quickly beat the XB-48 in a fly-off; the XB-47 with its swept wing had much better performance. Martin attempted further work on the design, but it was rejected by the Air Force. Flight tests of the XB-48s continued until the program was terminated in the fall of 1949.

Monogram Curtiss P-40B Tiger Shark Test Shot - Bagged, 1/72, PA96

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: VG

$36

This kit came from the collection of one of Monogram's finest and talented Chief Designers, the man who created the original B-52 kit, B-17, B-24J, P-36A, P-39 Airacobra, P-61 Black Widow, DH Mosquito, at least one if not all of the 1/8 scale Ford cars, A-1E Skyraider and numerous other famous kits. In his collection were boxes (usually Four-Star armor that had been damaged on the box-assembly machine) labeled 'TEST SHOTS' and some with his name on it. After designing the model, he was still responsible for the entire program, at least up to the point of mass production. Test Shots were made near the end of the design process for the Chief Designer of that kit to inspect; if something was wrong, he ordered changed. If not, he would clear the kit for production. Test Shots were usually made in whatever plastic was loaded into the silo at the time and in some cases reground plastic (from defects) was even used. This is one of those kits. Ever notice that all Monogram P-40s were molded in olive-drab plastic? Well, not in this case! This test shot is molded with most of the parts in a chocolate brown plastic, some in silver and the few remaining ones in green and clear plastic. This is a pre-first issue. It has never been started. The model is inventoried with all parts and instruction present. The Four Star issue instructions are mint and may have come with the test shot for his approval or they may have been added later. I have included them because they were in the same 'TEST SHOT' box as the kit. As a note, the test shots of the Monogram Four Star Helldiver were molded in silver and clear - clear dive brakes and many other clear parts! Some test shots of the Hawker Hurricane were molded in gloss gray with a little bit of white added so the designer could see exactly how the plastic moved into and filled the cavities.

Plastic Model Kit,   Box Condition: Exc+

$149

Very rare model from 1958 in an 'excellent+' condition box. This model is from Best molds. Aurora purchased these molds just for the Indianapolis 500 Winners and released only one issue. It has been inventoried complete with all parts, decals and instructions; even includes the factory tissue packing paper. The Miller Special had rear wheel drive, and eight cylinder 151.7 CID Miller engine and won the day averages 96.629 miles per hour. The track was dangerously unsafe that year due to a heavy drizzle that made driving over 80 mph dangerous - at one point, drivers were required to slow down to 80 mph and passing was not allowed other than the pit area. There were many spectacular accidents but the rain did relent and there were many speeds over 100 mph in the later part.
